Garbage & Recycling

Household garbage consists of all kitchen waste, other household waste, and small miscellaneous garbage.

Wednesday Special Pickups

Special pickups for large household items are on Wednesday of each week, unless a holiday occurs during that week, with the exception of Thanksgiving week when there are no special pickups. It is necessary to call 321-221-7540, Opt. 3, before Tuesday at noon each week to schedule a special pickup for Wednesday. Additional charges will apply.

Qualifying Items for Special Pickups

Large items, such as furniture, electronics, appliances, large amounts of construction debris, and so forth, are considered to be special-pickup items and will not be picked up with your regular household garbage. All items must be placed curbside – they cannot be retrieved from garages, carports, or backyards. Any refrigerator and freezer doors must be secured or removed. Additional charges, which are determined by the City, will be presented to the resident requesting the special pickup and will be required in advance of the service.
If you have questions, or would like to arrange for a special pickup, please call the Sanitation Office at 321-221-7540, Opt. 3. You must call prior to noon on Tuesday in order to be added to the Special Pickup List.

Warning

Unauthorized dumping into commercial dumpsters is illegal; if caught, you can be fined $500 or placed in jail for 60 days. Simply call if you need a special pickup.

Wheeled Garbage Container

The wheeled garbage container, the “HOBO,” is to be used only for household garbage. Your HOBO must be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day and removed from curb by 7:00 p.m. the same day.

Maintenance

Please help to maintain the life and cleanliness of your HOBO by sanitizing and rinsing it out frequently. If your HOBO should need repair, please call the Sanitation Division during hours of operation at 321-221-7540.
