[ARCHIVED] Noise Concerns Lead to Meeting with Airport Authority

small plane

As a result of several complaints about airplane noise and flight patterns, Mayor Price and City Manager Fettrow requested a meeting with representatives of Merritt Island Airport. While the meeting was informative, it was discovered that there is nothing the City can do with regard to this matter. All facets of flight and all airport activities are governed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and FAA regulations supersede the City's Noise Ordinance. Please review this documentation from the FAA for additional information and clarification.
