[ARCHIVED] City of Rockledge Responds to "Brevard F.O.P." Facebook Posts

The City of Rockledge is aware of the Facebook posts from “Brevard F.O.P.” inviting officers from Minneapolis, Buffalo and Atlanta to seek employment as law enforcement officers in Florida.  Please know that “Brevard F.O.P.” does not speak on behalf of municipalities, and more particularly, they do not speak on behalf of the City of Rockledge.  We are very disappointed that someone who may be associated with the F.O.P. would present information that leads our citizens to believe that our fine city is somehow associated or in agreement with the opinions that were expressed.  To be clear, the City of Rockledge had nothing to do with the post, WE DO NOT condone the message shared in the post, and we are not in any way associated or in agreement with the post shared by “Brevard F.O.P.”

We do not condone the violence that is occurring in other parts of the country, and we would not invite that here into our City.  The City of Rockledge Mayor, City Council, City Manager and staff would again like to thank the thousands of members of the community who have spoken out against racial injustice, police brutality, and hate in a peaceful, organized effort to enact change – we stand with you.
