[ARCHIVED] When to Call 9-1-1

🩺As we anticipate the closure of Orlando Health Rockledge Hospital, our local emergency responders may be working with a decreased number of ambulances and Emergency Room beds. As we navigate this change together, it’s important to know how best to utilize the vital resources provided by emergency responders.

✔️DO call 9-1-1 if:
🚨Someone is (or may be) severely injured or ill.
🚨Someone is experiencing chest pains, shortness of breath, seizures, stroke-like symptoms, or you cannot wake them up.
🚨You suspect that someone’s life is in peril.

❌DO NOT call 9-1-1*:
📌For a routine blood pressure check.
     📌Because you cannot sleep.
     📌To fluff your pillow.
     📌To check your pets.
*These are actual calls that we have handled!

Utilize 9-1-1 for true life-threatening emergencies. If our crews are responding to non-life- threatening situations, it prevents them from being able to help those in emergent situations.
The Rockledge Department of Public Safety is an all-hazards response organization that is always ready to come to your aid. When in doubt, call 9-1-1!📱
