On June 15, 2013, the Rockledge Police Department signed an agreement with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department Jail Transport Service to transport our prisoners. The agreement stems from a grant through a “JAG,” which allows Rockledge Officers to book the prisoners in our department, and then the jail van from the Brevard County Jail will come to our department to transport the prisoners to the county jail in Sharpes, which is 20 miles round-trip from our department. This service is a benefit to the citizens of Rockledge because it allows officers to remain in our city on the road, and it also saves time for the officers in that they don’t have to leave the city in order to transport prisoners.
